Resorts

Description

There are 22 unique resorts at Walt Disney World, not including all of the Disney Vacation Club accommodations attached to many of the Deluxe Resorts.  The resorts are divided into different categories with increasing amenities as you move up in class. These categories are Value, Moderate, Deluxe, and Deluxe Villas.  All of the resorts include a variety of standard amenities for guests, including Extra Magic Hours, complimentary Disney Transportation, Disney’s Magical Express and complimentary Theme Park parking.  Using My Disney Experience, Disney Resort guests can make select fastpasses up to 60 days in advance and receive complimentary Magicbands. Additionally, guests staying at the Walt Disney World Resort can also have merchandise purchased in the park sent to their resort, so they don’t have to worry about carrying it around the rest of the day.

Grand Floridian Sunset

Value Resorts are the most affordable option when it comes to staying on property at Walt Disney World.  These resorts include All-Star Movies, All-Star Sports, Pop Century, and Art of Animation. These resorts have the most basic of amenities including quick service food options, pizza delivery to your room, and swimming pools without water slides.  The Value Resorts have the smallest rooms of all the Resorts; however, All-Star Music and Art of Animation offer family suites for more spacious accommodations. These resorts are perfect for guests on a tighter budget, but still desiring to stay on property and get the full Disney experience.

Art of Animation

Moderate Resorts are the next category up in Walt Disney World Accommodations.  These Resorts include Caribbean Beach, Coronado Springs, Port Orleans – Riverside, Port Orleans – French Quarter, and the Cabins at Fort Wilderness.  These resorts include all of the amenities of the Value Resorts in addition to table service restaurants, room service, pools with slides and hot tubs, and recreation.  The Port Orleans Resorts and Cabins at Fort Wilderness also offer boat transportation to Disney Springs and the Magic Kingdom, respectively.

Coronado Springs

Deluxe Resorts offer the highest level of amenities.  These Resorts include the Animal Kingdom Lodge, Beach Club, Boardwalk Inn, Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Wilderness Lodge, and Yacht Club.  The Starwood operated Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin are also included in this category. These resorts include all of the amenities of the Moderate Resorts in addition to multiple dining options, childcare, monorail or boat transportation options.  The Animal Kingdom Lodge only has bus transportation, but there’s a savannah right outside your hotel room, so probably a fair trade-off.

Beach Club Sunrise

The Deluxe Villas offer the same amenities as the Deluxe Resorts because, for the most part, they share the same hotel facilities.  The two Resorts with dedicated Deluxe Villas are Old Key West and Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and Treehouse Villas. The Deluxe Villas sharing facilities with Deluxe Resorts include the Animal Kingdom Villas at Kidani Village and Jambo House, Bay Lake Tower and Disney’s Contemporary Resort, Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Villas, Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, and Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa.   The differentiator is in the rooms themselves as Deluxe Villas are available in Studios through Grand Villas. Studios are a bedroom with a kitchenette, while Grand Villas include three bedrooms, sitting area, and full kitchen. Deluxe Villas are intended for use by DVC Members who purchased points to use on vacation home stays, but there are a limited number of Villas available to non-DVC Members who wish to purchase the room using dollars.

Olivia’s at Old Key West

Disney also offers Campgrounds at Fort Wilderness for those looking for an outdoor experience on their Disney Vacation.
